BC Dumpling Festival – A Free Multicultural Celebration in Coquitlam

The BC Dumpling Festival is a free outdoor festival that celebrates cultural diversity through food, performances, and community spirit, with a delicious focus on dumplings from around the world.

When and Where

In 2025 the BC Dumpling Festival takes place on Saturday, August 9th. It’s held in Town Centre Park at 1299 Pinetree Way in Coquitlam. The venue is easy to reach, especially by transit. It’s just steps from the Lafarge Lake-Douglas SkyTrain Station on the Evergreen Line.

If you’re driving, multiple parking lots are available around the park, but it’s best to arrive early as the event draws large crowds.

A Festival of Food, Culture & Community

Launched in 2022, the festival was created by the Asian Arts & Culture Society in response to a rise in anti-Asian hate during the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizers hope to bring communities together and promote multiculturalism through arts, food, and live entertainment.

Over 20,000 people attended the inaugural event, enjoying performances, vendor booths, and—of course—an incredible variety of dumplings.

Dumplings From Around the World

While dumplings are the star of the show, the festival offers a wide selection of foods from diverse culinary backgrounds. From Korean mandu and Chinese wontons to bao bao, vegetarian dumplings, Filipino siopao, and even Italian ravioli and Jamaican patties—there’s something for everyone to try.

Some tasty stats from the 2022 event:

  • 15,000 Korean dumplings sold
  • 10,500 wontons sold
  • 10,000 servings of bao bao sold
  • 4,500 vegetarian dumplings sold
  • 800 Jamaican patties sold

With around 50 food vendors, the BC Dumpling Festival is a perfect place to explore global flavours in one location.

Entertainment & Activities

In addition to the food, the event features live multicultural entertainment on stage throughout the day. Over 40 community organizations participate, showcasing local culture, music, dance, and crafts.

Families, friends, and foodies gather to enjoy the festive atmosphere, explore vendor booths, and learn more about the rich cultural diversity of the region.
