Festival Dates & Location
After taking place in Burnaby last year, the event returns in 2026 but at a different location. This year’s festivities are held at Town Centre Park, located at 1299 Pinetree Way in Coquitlam.
The event is held in mid to late summer, and admission is completely free. In 2026 the festival happens on August 28th and 29th.
What to Expect at Coquitlam’s K-Food Fest
With good weather, organizers expect over 30,000 attendees, so bring your friends and come early for the best experience!
At the festival there are lots of food vendors as well as live entertainment and hands-on experiences.
Entertainment & Cultural Performances
From traditional performances to modern pop culture, the festival stage last year came alive with the following:
- K-POP Dance Cover Challenges featuring fan voting
- Ultimate Breaking Championship with elite breakdance crews
- Live DJs, emcees, and surprise guest acts
K-Street Food Market
Korean culinary classics at last year’s event included the following:
- Tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes)
- Gimbap (Korean-style sushi rolls)
- Korean-style hot dogs
- Sweet & savory street snacks
Hands-On Activities & Experiences
In addition to enjoying the food, drinks and live entertainment, there are fun, hands-on activities to experience at the festival too.
Last year’s event featured a photo studio, a Kimchi-Making Zone, beauty products to check out, adult beverages to try, and games to play.
At the Hanbok Experience & Photo Studio you were able to try on traditional Korean clothing and take photos to capture the moment. In the Kimchi-Making Zone, if you registered in advance, you could have made your own kimchi where the ticketed activity included a souvenir apron and hat for participants. In the K-Beauty & Skincare Zone, meanwhile, attendees learned tips from beauty experts, explored Korean skincare products, and received samples at the K-Beauty Workshop.
At last year’s festival there was a Traditional Korean Pub Experience where adults ages 19+ enjoyed a taste of Korean nightlife with makgeolli, which is a Korean rice wine, and classic K-style pub foods. Also at the event, there was a Squid Game Mini Challenge where participants tested their skills with classic Korean games, including dalgona candy carving, which was inspired by the hit Netflix series.
A Community Celebration of Korean Culture
The Kimchi Food Festival brings together the local community and visitors from across Metro Vancouver to celebrate the rich heritage, cuisine and entertainment of Korea.
With its vibrant mix of food, music, games and cultural workshops, K-Food Fest is a fun and interesting free summer event for families, couples and culture enthusiasts alike.
